Who I Am.

I was born and raised in Hawai’i.  I met my husband (in Hawai’i, of course), who was/is in the Coast Guard.  We got married and he spirited me off to the East Coast, where we live for now, with our silly, rambunctious little boy.
For this island girl, life on the East Coast has been one new experience after another – autumn weather, snow, looooong road trips, amazingly rude people, minority status – and did I mention how bleeping cold it gets?
Life as a Coastie wife has also been a new experience – a life that I never thought I’d be living, but I love it.  The military community and culture is like no other – and being from Hawai’i, I know a thing or two about different cultures.
So that’s basically what this blog is about – my life as a wife, a mother, a Coast Guard spouse, and a transplanted local girl.  Hope you like it.

Yes i can relate to your experiences too, and i also love it. I found your site while searching for Shoyu chicken recipe’s. It’s nice to hear about life and experience’s of other local people living abroad
because i kinda feel how you feel. And not to mention Shoyu chicken recipe’s on the internet,
more than i ever thought existed. It was nice to hear your story, keep it up!
