Tuesday update.
I haven’t blogged in a while! Here’s a little bit about what’s been happening around here:
I learned how to knit! So far I’ve made a scarf and a lot of swatches. I have a couple of project ideas in mind, including a hat for J. And maybe a hat for Little J, too. Ravelry has been invaluable to me. If you knit, crochet, or have anything to do with the “fiber arts”, check it out!
We went to Oktoberfest a couple weeks ago and hung out in the entertainment tent (which was also the Biergarten, coincidentally *cough*). From that, Little J learned that you clap when a song is done. So now when he listens to music, he claps after each song. Very cute!
Just in the past week, the weather has cooled down a lot. I’m dreading winter even more than I did last year – now I know what to expect.
Our weekends have been pretty busy. Besides Oktoberfest, we’ve also gone to a corn maze, the zoo, and a seafood festival, among other things. This past weekend we went to Boston and walked around Faneuil Hall Marketplace (Quincy Market). We also walked down Hanover Street, home to about a thousand authentic Italian restaurants, as well as Mike’s Pastry. I think this is part of the North End? The Coast Guard Base is there, too.
J and I have gone back and forth – again – about reenlisting in the Coast Guard. It’s a never-ending discussion. Anyone know anything about the towboat/tugboat industry?
We have very tentative plans to visit Hawai’i next spring. Well, I wouldn’t say we have plans – we have thoughts about it. The colder it gets here, the more it sounds like a good idea. The first thing I want to do if we do visit, is see my family. Then go to the beach. Then eat, eat, eat. I think the beach and the food are what I miss most about home. So really, having a big beach picnic with my family would be ideal.
I’ll try to blog more (don’t I always say that?). I have lots of random thoughts rolling around in my head that want out!
